“Disaster Planning for Professional Pet Sitters” is an online certificate program that was designed by Pet Safety Crusader™ Denise Fleck with Pet Sitters International. This certificate program focuses on disaster planning as it applies to professional pet sitters and instructs students in how to put their disaster plan in action. The course is conducted through a series of easy-to-follow video tutorials. “Disaster Planning for Professional Pet Sitters” is ideal for pet sitters at all stages of business. From those just starting out to those who have been in the industry for years, all professional pet sitters can benefit from the wealth of knowledge found in this course.
Pet sitters successfully completing this course and passing the final exam will earn the “Certificate in Disaster Planning for Professional Pet Sitters.”
The course qualifies for 6 CEUs for CPPS-Certified Professional Pet Sitters.
This course also qualifies for 6 CEUs with the International Association of Canine Professionals and with the Professional Animal Care Certification Council.

This five-module online course (which can be completed at your own pace over a three-month period) will teach you:
- How to prepare your disaster plan
- What supplies you need for pets and their people
- How to put your plan into action
- Disaster specific tips for over 20 natural and man-made disasters, including avalanches, civil uprisings, wildfires, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and many more
- First aid basics for pets and people
Note: While not required for the completion of this course, PSI highly recommends students purchase The Pet Safety Crusader’s My Pet & Me Guide to Disaster PAWparedness as a companion guide. The Pet Safety Crusader’s My Pet & Me Guide to Disaster PAWparedness is an invaluable resource to aid in your retention of the material presented in this course and is an excellent tool for you to refer back to when disaster strikes.
