Disaster Preparedness for Pet-Care Professionals is an online certificate program was designed by Pet Safety Crusader Denise Fleck with Pet Sitters International. Ideal for pet sitters at all stages of business, this updated course concisely focuses on proactive steps professional pet sitters and dog walkers can take to potentially prevent, or at least mitigate, the severity of man-made and natural disasters that may occur around pets. Training, your written emergency plan, practice drills, and what to have on hand for both pets and people are emphasized.

Pet sitters successfully completing this course and passing the final exam will earn the “Certificate in Disaster Planning for Professional Pet Sitters.”

The course qualifies for 3 CEUs for CPPS-Certified Professional Pet Sitters.

This course also qualifies for 6 CEUs with the International Association of Canine Professionals and with the Professional Animal Care Certification Council.

This five-module online course (which can be completed at your own pace over a three-month period) will teach you:

• What supplies you need for pets and their people
• How to put your plan into action
• Disaster specific tips for over 20 natural and man-made disasters, including avalanches, civil uprisings, wildfires, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and many more
• First aid basics for pets and people
